PI50591: COMMUTER LICENSING FAILS WHEN YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO A NETWORK

Error description

  • You utilize Commuter licensing from your organization.  When you
    installed SPSS Statistics you pointed your client to the License
    Manager server vi fully qualified domain name.  You are
    successful at checking out and checking in a commuter license
    token while connected to your organization's network.  However,
    when you leave the network, Statistics client fails to launch
    for you citing an inability to find the License Manager server.
    
    This behavior seems to only manifest for users having a physical
    hardwired connection (RJ-45 ethernet) to their network. so long
    as a wireless network interface is enabled on the client, though
    it may not be connected to a network, the product launches
    correctly and gives notice that the commuter license token will
    expire in N days.
    

Local fix

  • Edit the spssprod.inf configuration file on the Statistics
    client.
    Change the "DaemonHost=" line to the IP address of the License
    Manager server.
