Error description

  • Description:

When a client exports a security rule using Export Configuration
from one environment and imports the security rule into another
environment the formula is not imported. The import completes
successfully with no errors in the log but yet the formula is
    not present after import.

    Prerequisites:

    Two environments with OP 8.1

    1.	On Source environment create a security rule
    a.	Log into OpenPages as the Administrator
    b.	Switch to the standard UI if necessary
    c.	Navigate to Administration -> Security Rules
    d.	Select an object type (for this example we will use
    SOXControl)
    e.	Click ?Add? next to ?Record Level Security?
    f.	Provide a name and description for the rule
    g.	Set Security to ?Extend? and Access Controls to ?Read and
    Update?
    h.	For the formula paste in this FOR (Primary Parent
    [SOXControl]/[SOXAccount]/[AuditProgram] :
    [SOXControl].[OPSS-Ctl].[Domain] IN ('Financial Management') AND
    END_USER IN GROUP('SOXUsers'))
    i.	Enable System Admin Mode and click ?Save?
    j.	Disable System Admin Mode
    2.	On Source environment use Export Migration to export the
    security rule
    a.	Navigate to Administration -> Export Configuration
    b.	Select ?Export Local Configuration? and click ?Submit?
    c.	From the ?Choose Type? select ?Security Rules?
    d.	Put a check next to ?SOXControl? (or the object type you
    created the rule on)
    e.	Click ?Save Migration File?
    f.	Click ?Refresh? until it ?Competed Successfully?
    g.	Download the migration file using the icon

    h.	Save the migration file somewhere to use in the next steps

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1.	On the Target environment log in as Admin
    2.	Switch to the standard UI if necessary
    3.	Import the Security Rule
    a.	Navigate to Administration -> Import Configuration
    b.	Select ?Local Disk? and then Browse for the file saved above
    and select it
    c.	Click ?Submit?
    d.	Click ?Import?
    e.	Click ?Refresh? until it completes successfully
    4.	Check the imported security rule for accuracy
    a.	Navigate to Administration -> Security Rules
    b.	Click on the object type (for this example SOXControl)
    c.	Click on the name of the security rule created
    d.	Note the ?Formula? is empty and was not imported

Local fix

  • Open/extract the jar file created during the Export
Configuration. Then open the xml file and copy the formula from
the XML file into the security rule in the target environment
    after import.
