Abstract

LIC-MEDIA-TAPE UNDERLENGTH ERROR MAY NOT BE REPORTED

Error Description

If a tape drive reports an error on a read as recovered, but    
does not transfer data, the LIC code may not report an error on
the operation to the operating system. This can result in the  
client code attempting to process a data buffer that has no    
valid data.                                                    

Problem Summary

If a tape drive reports an error on a read as recovered, but    
does not transfer data, the LIC code may not report an error on
the operation to the operating system. This can result in the  
client code attempting to process a data buffer that has no    
valid data.                                                    

Problem Conclusion

Apply this fix to change the LIC code to ensure that all data  
length errors are reported to the operating system.
