Error description

  • db2gcf -s Is supposed to show the instance status. 'Available'
means the instance has been started. 'Operable' means the
instance hasn't been started, but it can be started and will
    work.

    In V9.1: db2gcf -s -i <instname> Will never show
'Available' if the environment variable DB2INSTANCE is set to
    something different than <instname>.

db2gcf also fails to work correctly with -i <instname> for the
    following options:
    -u (start)
    -d (stop)
    -c (cleanup)
    -k (kill)

Local fix

  • 1) Set DB2INSTANCE for the user running the command.

    db2set DB2INSTANCE=[instance]

    2) Unset DB2INSTANCE

    csh:
    setenv DB2INSTANCE=

    bash or ksh:
    unset DB2INSTANCE
