JR31101: REORGCHK FROM V9.5 CLIENT TO V8.X SERVER CAN CRASH OR RETURN ERROR SQL0501N

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A reorgchk command from V9.5 client to a V8.x server can crash
    or return an SQL0501N error on the client side with an
    underlying SQL0171N error.  The V95 code is not taking into
    account the difference in the catalog information in a V8
    database when doing the reorgchk.  The following stack trace has
    been observed:
    
      32-bit Win/XP 9.5 FP2 client to
      32-bit Win/XP 8.2 FP16 server
    the client crashed in

Local fix

  • Run the reorgchk locally on the v8.x server.
    

Problem summary

  • Users Affected: Any issuing a reorgchk from a V95 client to a V8
    db.
    Problem Description: reorgchk from V95 to a downlevel v8 server
    can crash the client
    Problem summary: see above.
    

Problem conclusion

  • First fixed in DB2 UDB Version V9.5, FixPak 4
    

Temporary fix

  • Run the reorgchk locally on the V8 server
