Error description

  • For FP 14, the EXPORT command default message file generation
path was changed from /tmp/db2<xyz>.msg to
    /home/<instance>/sqllib/tmp/db2<pid>.msg

A non - instance user would not have access to create a file in
this path and hence the I/O error. This was not the problem for
the earlier version as FP9 because the message file
    was generated under /tmp/.... path.

To enable a non - instance user run the export command without
the 'messages' option, the default path will be changed to
    /tmp/db2<pid>.msg

Local fix

  • non instance users can use the 'messages' option
during export, or changing the permissions to the sqllib/tmp
    folder.

Problem summary

First fixed in DB2 UDB Version 9.5, FixPak 1

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

  • As temporary fix change permission on sqllib/tmp,
or specify the message file location in EXPORT command.
