APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The /var/mqm/trace filesystem filled up with .TRC and/or .FMT
    files.

The dspmqtrc program, which formats the .TRC files to human
readable .FMT files, discovered this error at the time of
closing the .FMT file, when it called the C library call
    fclose().

This error condition (errno=ENOSPC, 28) was reported via an FDC
in /var/mqm/errors, but this FDC is of little value, and
consumes space in /var/mqm/errors for little benefit.

Instead of an FDC, some error text on the user's console would
    be sufficient and more useful.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users who run dspmqtrc at a point when the /var/mqm/trace
    filesystem becomes full.

    Platforms affected:
AIX, Linux on zSeries, Linux on x86-64, Linux on Power, IBM
    iSeries

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The FDC consumed space in /var/mqm/errors for little benefit.

Problem conclusion

  • The dspmqtrc program has been corrected to avoid writing this
FDC for the errno=28 (ENOSPC) condition. Instead, the following
text will appear on the console:

    AMQ7065S: Insufficient space on disk.

The FDC with probe OP233170 might validly still appear in
future, but not in this specific scenario where the trace
    filesystem has become full.
