IT39231: MQ 9.2 LTS fix pack rpm installer does not correctly prohibit application to a 9.2.x CD installation

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• It is invalid to apply an IBM MQ 9.2.0.n LTS fix pack to an IBM
  MQ v9.2.x CD release, where x >=1.
  
  The IBM MQ 9.2 LTS fix pack rpm installer on Linux did not
  correctly enforce this, and allowed fix pack files to be
  incorrectly applied to a newer CD installation.
  

Local fix

• Do not attempt to apply an LTS fix pack to a newer CD
  installation.
  
  If this has been inadvertently performed. uninstall all
  components of the IBM MQ Installation, and reinstall
  the desired IBM MQ 9.2 CD version.
  

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  All IBM MQ users who attempt to apply an IBM MQ 9.2.0.n LTS fix
  pack to an IBM MQ v9.2.x CD version (where x >= 1) using rpm on
  the Linux platform.

  Linux on x86-64, Linux on Power, Linux on S390

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  A logic error in the version validation code of the IBM MQ fix
  pack installer meant that installation was not blocked by rpm
  when the target installation was a 9.2.x CD version.
  

Problem conclusion

• The IBM MQ 9.2 fix pack installer logic has been corrected so
  that the rpm installation fails with an appropriate error if the
  target installation is an IBM MQ 9.2.x CD version.
