Error description
GPFS team has published a technote outlining the steps required to properly shutdown and restart gpfs daemons - https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6118084 This fixes some 'unable to unload kernel module' issues that remain persistent even after reboot. As per this, we will need to change our 'enter maintenance' procedure in Db2 as well.
Local fix
there are options to rename the module that is not being unloaded by the kernel; however, these must be done and verified in conjunction with GPFS support only.
