Error description

  • DETAIL OF PROBLEM:
    
    The export performance data utility within the
    Storage Insights (and Spectrum Control) GUI, hangs and
    never completes when exporting volume data.
    
    Any subsequent attempts to export data cannot proceed
    and will fail, as the message "Performance data is already
    being exported." displays in the GUI pop-up dialog box.
    
    
    RECREATE STEPS:
    
    Attempt to export performance data from within Storage
    Insights (or Spectrum Control). Observe that the task does
    not complete.
    
    
    Problem as described by customer:  Problem exporting
    performance data from storage insights.
    
    Initial customer impact (low/med/high): med
    

Local fix

  • The user should click on the "Cancel Download" on that
    dialog box in order to free up any exports may be active
    (in progress).  This may take some time to cancel any
    existing export which is underway.
    
    By default, the volume performance data is included in
    any export which is less than 12 hours of data, and
    will fail to export.
    
    Therefore, if volume performance data is not needed:
    
    For the export, select a time range larger than 12 hours
    and do not select the "Advanced" checkbox in the
    selection panel, as that will include volume performance
    data in the export.
