Error description

  • When configuring RDQM HA using the 'rdqmadm -c' command, a
failure occurs reporting the following errors

    AMQ3817E: Replicated data subsystem call '/usr/sbin/crm -c
rdqm.17596 node list' failed with return code '1'.
ERROR: cib.use: rdqm.17596: no such shadow CIB

AMQ3817E: Replicated data subsystem call '/usr/sbin/crm cib
    delete
rdqm.17596' failed with return code '1'.
ERROR: cib.delete: failed to delete rdqm.17596 shadow CIB

The error is not easily understandable and does not elude to the
cause of the issue. Checking the pacemaker log will show errors
indicating that permission to "/dev/shm" is denied.

    qb_sys_mmap_file_open:	couldn't open file
    /dev/shm/qb-cmap-request-10119-10132-25-header: Permission

Local fix

  • Change the permissions on /dev/shm from 750 to 777.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users using the Replicated Data Queue Manager (RDQM) feature in
    MQ.

    Platforms affected:
    Linux on x86-64

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
During RDQM configuration the command rdqmadm -c will fail with
errors if there is insufficient permission on the system
directory "/dev/shm". However, the error message reported for
this failure is not useful enough to understand the actual cause
for the failure. Only by reviewing the pacemaker.log user can
the understand the cause of the error.

Problem conclusion

  • A new error message AMQ3696 has been added to report the
    incorrect permission issue.
