Error description

  • MQ 7.5 client application could not connect to a queue manager.

Analysis of diagnostic information shows that the application is
timing out awaiting a response from the queue manager.
    .
... Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is
    javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Unable to connect to
    the target queue manager x.y
[Root exception is com.ibm.mq.MQException: MQJE001: Completion
    Code '2', Reason '2033'.]
    .
The error log of the queue manager shows that
the server-connection channel used by the client application
    has timed out:
    AMQ9271: Channel 'z' timed out.

Local fix

  • Restart the command server of the MQ queue manager
    (process amqpcsea), by issuing:
      endmqcsv queueManagerName
      strmqcsv queueManagerName

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users of WebSphere MQ V7.5.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A coding error within the queue manager's command server logic,
could put the amqpcsea (command server) process into a tight
loop when using RUNMQSC or MQ Explorer to display connection
information. If such a loop is encountered, other applications
may encounter a delayed response when connecting, possibly
causing the connection attempt to time out.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ connection enquiry code within the command
server has been corrected to prevent the apparent loop.
