IJ07898: IMPACT GUI SHOWS BLANK SCREEN OR IBM.COM AFTER FP13 INSTALL

Error description

  • After the install of FP13 a login to the Impact GUI has the use
    facing a blank screen or being taken to the ibm.com homepage.
    
    This was also seen with previous fixpacks and there is a
    TechNote that explains how to overcome the problem, but it has
    been more prevalent with FP13 than in the past.
    
    The technote specifies localhost in the REST URL.

    It may come about when localhost does not resolve and needs to
    be more resilient and retry with some other hostname option.

    * When logging into Netcool/Impact after a fixpack upgrade,    *
    * the user is greeted by a blank page or a redirect to ibm.com *
    * instead of the Netcool/Impact UI.                            *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    During a fixpack upgrade, the installer must reconfigure the
    Impact UI with an local HTTP REST call. However, this REST call
    can fail if the installer is unable to reach the localhost. This
    is often the result of a network or DNS misconfiguration. The
    issue can be resolved by manually re-running the configuration
    as outlined by
    http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg22000341 after
    resolving the network/DNS issue which initially caused the
    issue.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The blank page / redirect to ibm.com has been replaced with a
    link to the
    http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg22000341 technote.
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
