2.3 Enhancements in Fix Pack 15

Fix Pack includes the following enhancements:

• With APAR (IJ07399: ENABLE DEBUG FROM THE JAVAMAIL API TO BE LOGGED), Impact now provides the capability of enabling detailed tracing of the JavaMail API:

  open <install>\impact\wlp\usr\servers\NCI\jvm.options and add the following line:
  -Dmail.debug=true
  You must restart the Impact server for the tracing to take effect.
  Detailed tracing will appear in the <install>\impact\wlp\usr\servers\NCI\logs\messages.log
  JavaMail tracing can be enabled to assist when troubleshooting issues related to the EmailReader and EmailSender services

• IBM Runbook Automation (RBA): Impact APAR IJ10508 has a dependency on the December 2018 RBA release!

• In Impact 7.1.0.15 we have renamed group source for "Discovered Groups (ConfigName)" to "Unallocated Groups (ConfigName)", as the group sources are all discovered, and there are those that are allocated to the patterns and those that are not allocated.

If you would like to change from default "Unallocated Groups", the following steps will need to be performed:

1. Change a variable value in NOI_CONSTANTS policy called RE_DISCOVERED_GROUPS.
    var RE_DISCOVERED_GROUPS = 'Unallocated Groups'; // Change the value to desired string 

2. If the documentation is referring to "Discovered Groups", they are now called by default "Unallocated Groups" and can be changed.

3. Change the string value "Unallocated Groups" to your desired name in the file called: noi_derby_upgradefp15.sql file.

4. To change the existing data in the RE report, run noi_derby_upgradefp15.sql file using nci_db, or you can re-run the configurations.

Derby Upgrade:   Impact 7.1.0.14 upgrades Derby JARs, and upgrades Impact Database management runtime, but performs a Soft Upgrade of the actual Derby DB, from version 10.8 to 10.14.  Impact 7.1.0.15 performs a Full Upgrade of Derby DB.  A full upgrade is a complete upgrade of the Derby database. After Fix Pack 15 successfully installs, the Full version of the Derby DB can be checked by connecting to the database with the command-line client.  
$IMPACT_HOME/bin/nci_db connect    
Specify the URL to connect to the database at the prompt. Replace HOSTNAME with the actual hostname and the proper Derby user ID and password.
 For example:
ij > connect ’jdbc:derby://HOSTNAME:1527/ImpactDB;user=impact;password=derbypass’;
Run the following command, at the prompt:
       values syscs_util.syscs_get_database_property( 'DataDictionaryVersion' );
The example below shows the expected output: 10.14.

If the version returned is lower than 10.14, then it is advisable to manually upgrade the database.

Troubleshooting Netcool Impact 7.1 >‎ General issues
        You now can, If needed reset the Derby DB to a default state (in a NOI installation); by using the following steps:
        Find appropriately named ImpactDB_NOI_FP15.zip file located in $IMPACT_HOME/install/dbcore.
        Stop all ImpactServers in the cluster (primary and secondary that run Derby DB).
        Backup/Remove the existing ImpactDB directory structure in $IMPACT_HOME/db/<ServerName>/derby.
        Copy the zip file found in step 1 to $IMPACT_HOME/db/<ServerName>/derby and unzip it.
        Start Impact Server primary, let it fully initialize and start, and now start secondary server and let it re-sync from the primary.

3.0 Known Issues in Fix Pack 15

    ITNMEventListener fails to start, if connecting to ITNM versions 4.2.  Currently, only versions 3.8 and 3.9 are fully supported.
    The following applies only to Netcool/Impact Clients with  Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) - and only for those
    with Existing configurations:
    After upgrading to Netcool/Impact 7.1.0 FP13 (and above), run through the Wizard; confirm, verify & save the configuration.

    Refer to:  Event Analytics Configuration
    1. It is a known issue that custom rollup changes to properties and params files are overwritten. Running through the wizard will repair these.
    2. Also for seasonality View, it is advisable to run through the Wizard to make sure the right columns are displayed.  Refer to the following link for appropriate actions: Migration of rollups in Netcool/Impact v7.1.0.14
    The EventReader service for Seasonality Events is called "ProcessSeasonalityEvents" and it does not (by default) read updated or de-duplicated events. "Get updated events" is not selected (by default) in the UI for the "ProcessSeasonityEvents" Service, on the Event Mapping tab.

    The reason for this is due to the wide Filter for the "ProcessSeasonityEvents" Event Reader service. By default, the filter is set to "1=1". With this wide filter, if "Get updated events" was enabled, and Seasonality rules fired, this could lead to an infinite loop. i.e. Seasonality Rules updating events which in turn get read by the reader and fire the Seasonality Rules again.

 The solution is for the Event Mapping Filter to be set, in such a way, as to avoid already processed events. i.e. if the Seasonality rules are setting the Service field to "something" then the Event Mapping Filter could be set to restrict these.
    NOI: Impact Event Isolation and Correlation page does not load if non-default cluster name is used (such as NCICLUSTER_Z )
        To resolve this issue, perform the following actions:
            stop the Impact GUI server $IMPACT_HOME/bin/stopGUIServer.sh
             copy or rename the file with the correct cluster name. For example:
                cp $IMPACT_HOME/opview/displays/NCICLUSTER-EIC_configure.html $IMPACT_HOME/opview/displays/NCICLUSTER_Z-EIC_configure.html
            restart the Impact GUI server $IMPACT_HOME/bin/startGUIServer.sh
            go to the Event Isolation and Correlation page and confirm the page is displayed without the errors.
