IC74665: INSTALLFIXPACK DISPLAYS WRONG VERSION WHEN THERE ARE NO DB2 PRODUCTS INSTALLED AT THE SELECTED LOCATION

APAR status

Error description

  • installFixPack displays version "V9.5" instead of "V9.7" when
    there are no DB2 products installed at the selected location.
    This issue affects both non-root and root installations.
    You will see the following error message:
    
    $ ./installFixPack
    DBI1017I  installFixPack is updating the DB2 product(s)
    installed in
          location /home/db2inst1/sqllib.
    
    DB2 installation is being initialized.
    
     Total number of tasks to be performed: 33
    Total estimated time for all tasks to be performed: 1158
    
    Task #1 start
    Description: Preparing the system
    Estimated time 120 second(s)
    Task #1 end
    
    There are no "V9.5" DB2 products installed at the selected
    location "/home/db2inst1/sqllib" can be updated using the
    current image. To install a DB2 product to the selected
    location,  run the db2setup command. To update an installed DB2
    product in a different location, specify the appropriate
    location and run the installFixPack command again.
    A major error occurred during the execution that caused this
    program to
    terminate prematurely. If the problem persists, contact your
    technical service
    representative.
    

Local fix

  • You can ignore the message. Please make sure you select a
    location that contains DB2 V9.7, not V9.5
