Change history

Version 21.0.18.0 (Released June 2010)
Changes:

  • Added a configuration option to specify the number of login attempts a user is allowed to connect to the switch via TACACS authentication. (27860)
  • Added the ability to specify the source interface for
  • SNMP Trap generation. (31349)
  • Increased the maximum pre-authentication banner to 2048 characters. (40455)

Fixes:

  • SNMP Walk would not complete. (28724)
  • The SNMP community name was not shown correctly in the BBI. (35387)
  • VPD Data was being overwritten by PPCboot. (35574)
  • Low call rates while load-balancing SIP traffic. (36204)
  • Operationally disabling a Real Server via the Groups menu in BBI was not taking effect. (36866)
  • In manufacturing mode, the "sys/info" display of PPCBoot was not reported. (37216)
  • The altSwLoginFailure alert was not being not being generated when a failed login occurred. (39718)
  • The Login Notice was not seen when accessing the Switch via SSH. (40270)
  • The BBI was not correctly displaying the SIP configuration. (40344)
  • When ICMP "Packet Too Big" messages were generated towards the switch, the ICMP checksum was incorrectly calculated. (40576)
  • The switch was not sending Traps or Syslogs when "real" services came up. (40972)

Version 21.0.17.0 (Released June 2009)
Changes:

  • Changed the MIB root name from ALTEON-ROOT-MIB to BNT-GbESM-1G-L2L7-MIB.
  • Improvements to increase manufacturing yield.

Version 21.0.16.0 (Released March 2009)

Changes:

  • This version introduces the BNT name, Blade Network Technologies (BNT), into the BBI, CLI, and SNMP.

Fixes:

  • Under certain config the switch was not clearing persistent session. These sessions get orphaned in the session table. (25798)
  • Port range selected during load balancing can conflict with configured services. (26242)
  • When load-balancing Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server, the switch requires the use of minmiss as the load-balancing group metric. However, when more than 2 servers are added to the load-balanced group, the distribution
is 50 - 25 - 25 and not even. The load balancing is improved with this fix. (28015)
  • Remove RIP:PORT insertion from SIP message header because this breaks the session with SIP servers. (28016)
  • Server logs were filled up with "out of sequence" error messages when two switches are performing health-checks using the same SIP call-id but different tcp sequence numbers. (28017)
  • BBI does not display configured VIP's if logging in with a created user account, fixed so that this is properly displayed. (28179)
  • Add ability to display SLB stats per-service for improved troubleshooting capabilities. (28650)
  • Fixed a switch crash caused by Maint login authenticated via TACACs. (28978)
  • Fixed a crash cause by multiple Telnet logins authenticated by TACACS. (29256)
  • Crash dump not saved for watchdog timeout, switch now saves crash dump once the watchdog timeout occurs, this improves trobleshooting of switch software error conditions. (29874)
  • Improved exception handling so that switch crashes provide improved information for troubleshooting. (20941)
  • Fix memory leak which can cause hang (25184)
  • Added memory monitoring tool for improved troubleshooting. (25205)
  • ARP cache is not updated on RARP after VMotion station move. RARP is now used to update the ARP cache. (26717)

Version 21.0.12.0 (Released December 2008)

Fixes:

  • BladeCenter S chassis support: internal chassis ports (SMGT1, SMGT2) can now be included in standard VLANs. SMGT ports can now be used in non-management VLANs, (when in I/O Bays 1 and 2 of a BladeCenter-S chassis). Ports are treated as internal ports instead of management ports. (number 19131)
  • Added the ability to control/observe IP-tunnel bypass parameters using the Browser-Based-Interface (BBI) and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) as previously available for telnet. (number 19028 and 18517)
  • Specific chassis types are now displayed in user interfaces. "BladeCenter E", "BladeCenter T", "BladeCenter H", "BladeCenter HT" and "BladeCenter S" are the possible types (number 17664)
  • When HTTP and HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) use the same group, the HTTP and HTTPS sessions are hashed into the same bucket when created,
but are searched using a different mechanism during aging. Hence entries may not be found during aging and therefore are not removed from the session table, which results in exaggerated session count. (number 17500)
  • Current Packet Acceleration Statistics entries” counter under the “/stats/pace/maint” command could inadvertently be decremented to a negative number. Protection was added to make sure that this counter never gets decremented below zero.
  • When enabling the secure backdoor access for Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System (TACACS), the notacacs username would always work, even if the TACACS server was up. The notacacs username access was corrected to only work when the TACACS server is down and secbackdoor is enabled. (number 17502)
  • The port range selection display in the failover-trigger-monitor command was incorrect. It was <EXT1-EXT44, EXT1-EXT4> and now corrected to be <EXT1-EXT4>.
    (number 17611)
  • In rare cases, a TACACS packet may be received after the control block was cleared by TACACS due to an unsuccessful connection. This condition, which had the potential of causing a switch crash due to access to invalid memory, was corrected. (number 17214)
  • Switch incorrectly marks failed services as blocked. When server is configured for multiple services it appears that the first service is marked as blocked instead of failed. The switch now correctly displays the correct status of a virtual service with multiple real ports. (number 17178)
