Remove the front door:
- Open the door and pull the door away from the system to release the door pins from the hinge latches.
- Turn off the server and all attached peripheral devices.
- Disconnect all power cords and all external signal cables.
- For easier access to components, place the server on its side. This is the recommended service position.
-
Remove the side cover.
- Pull the cover release latch away from the server and slide the cover towards the rear of the server.
- Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
- Remove the side support bracket by lifting the bracket up from the rear to a 45-degree position, and disengage the locking tab at the front.
-
Remove the hard disk drive.
- Gently lift the drive bay cage up until it locks into the open position.
- Disconnect the power cable and the SCSI cable from the selected drive. Note a non-hot-swap SCSI hard disk drive is shown here in bay 7.
- Release the latch and rotate the cage down to the closed position.
- Rotate the bay retainer up and remove it, then grasp the drive tray handle and gently pull the drive out of the bay.
