Defining parts

When you create a part, you specify initial attributes and then you can configure additional information, such as constructing part assemblies, adding parts to storerooms, associating parts with vendors, and specifying classifications for parts.

Procedure

  1. In the Part Number Masters application, create a part.
  2. To group related parts that can be tracked as a single unit, create part assemblies.
  3. Add parts to the inventory for a storeroom in the Storerooms tab. Configure account balance information for parts in the storeroom in the Inventory application..
  4. Add classification information for a part in the Specifications tab. Configure classifications in the Classifications application.
  5. Specify vendors that supply a part in the Vendors tab and use the View Contracts action to review contracts for vendors. Configure vendors in the Companies application.
  6. Specify price book information for parts that are supplied to customers in the Price Books tab. Configure price books in the Price Books application.
  7. Use the View Warranties action or the View Issued Parts under Warranty action to review warranty information for parts. You create warranty records in the Part Warranty Contracts application.
