The nmon recording tool

The nmon recording tool can record various performance metrics that are related to the logical partition (LPAR) and the Virtual I/O Server (VIOS).

You can use nmon tool to enable or disable recording of the performance metrics depending on the requirements. In the recording mode, the nmon command generates the nmon files. You can view these files directly by opening them or by using post processing tools such as the nmon analyzer. After the recording starts in the nmon tool, the tool disconnects from the shell that initiated the recording and ensures that the tool continues to run even if you log out of the AIX user session.
