IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition documentation updates for version 1.3.0.7

Table 1 lists information that is new or changed for IBM Spectrum® Archive EE version 1.3.0.7. Version 1.3.0.7 is the most current version of IBM Spectrum Archive EE documentation, and was released in April 2020.

Table 2 and Table 3 list new and changed information for versions 1.3.0 3-1.3.0 6 of IBM Spectrum Archive EE.

The following updates were made to the System requirements topic:
  • The operating system support was updated to show added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux® Server 7.7 (x86_64, and ppc64le), along with existing support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Servers 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6 (x86_64, and ppc64le).
  • IBM Spectrum Scale version 5.0.4 is now supported, along with versions 4.2.3, and 5.0.2, and 5.0.3 (Standard Edition, Advanced Edition, or Data Management Edition).
  • The supported HSM version was updated to version 8.1.9.

The following eeadm drive commands were added or enhanced.

Added the new commands eeadm drive down and eeadm drive up. The commands allow you to not use a particular tape drive, for service purposes. A procedure in the topic Turning a tape drive on and off while you mount IBM Spectrum Archive was also updated with these new commands.

Added the new commands eeadm drive set and eeadm drive show. The commands allow you to change and display the drive roles without unassigning the drive.

The eeadm drive list command was enhanced to display the drive status in addition to the state. The topic Drive state information was updated to add the status information, and the topic title changed to Drive status and state information.

Added the new eeadm list command. The command provides additional flexibility in placing files when you are using the mmapplypolicy command. The eeadm list command works as an alias of the existing commands for use with the LIST rule with the EXEC and OPTS statements, and allows you to place the files in the premigrated state more easily.

Updated the ltfseesave list topic to direct users to the new eeadm list --save command. Also provided examples of EXEC and OPTS statements for policy files that use the eeadm list --save command.

In the Managing section, the following topics were updated:

  • Starting and managing reclamation with the eeadm tape reclaim command

  • How to move data from one tape media generation to another.
Also, the titles of the following topics were changed.

  • The topic Automatic recall was renamed to Transparent recall.

The topic Formatting a medium in the library was merged with topic Add or remove tapes from tape storage pools, and the topic was renamed to Add tapes to pools, format tapes, or remove tapes from pools.

A new topic Network settings was added to the Configuration section, and some existing topics were relocated as subtopics to that new topic.
