Checklist for migrating from Version 8.5 to Version 11.7

Use this migration checklist to migrate from InfoSphere® Information Server, Version 8.5 to InfoSphere Information Server, Version 11.7.

1. Complete the following tasks:
   • Verify migration requirements.
   • Design the migration topology.
   • Install the new version of InfoSphere Information Server.
2. Export each of the following products or components in any order from your source computer:
   • Export Version 8.5 user IDs, user groups, user roles, and associated credentials.
   • Export Version 8.5 common metadata assets.
   • Export InfoSphere DataStage®, Version 8.5:
     • Copy files that are not included in the project export.
     • Export projects by using one of the following methods:
       • Export InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5 by using the Designer.
       • Export InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5 by using istool.
       • Export InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5 by using InfoSphere Information Server Manager.
   • Export InfoSphere QualityStage®, Version 8.5 by using one of the following methods:
     • Copy files that are not included in the project export.
     • Export projects by using one of the following methods:
       • Export InfoSphere QualityStage, Version 8.5 by using the Designer.
       • Export InfoSphere QualityStage, Version 8.5 by using istool.
   • Export Version 8.5 reports.
   • Export InfoSphere Information Analyzer, Version 8.5.
   • Export InfoSphere FastTrack, Version 8.5 by using one of the following methods:
     • Export InfoSphere FastTrack, Version 8.5 mapping specifications as .csv files.
       Note: The .csv exports do not support all InfoSphere FastTrack metadata. The istool export is the recommended option for migration.
     • Export InfoSphere FastTrack, Version 8.5 by using istool.
   • Follow the export steps for Metadata Workbench, Version 8.5.
   • Export InfoSphere Business Glossary, Version 8.5 by using one of the following methods:
     • Export glossary content by using the InfoSphere Business Glossary, Version 8.5 administrative interface.
     • Export InfoSphere Business Glossary, Version 8.5 by using istool.
   • Export InfoSphere Information Services Director, Version 8.5..
3. Import each of the following products or components in the following order to your target computer:
   • Import Version 8.5 user IDs, user groups, user roles, and associated credentials.
   • Import Version 8.5 common metadata assets .
   • Import InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5:
     • Copy files that are not included in the project export.
     • Import projects by using one of the following methods.
       • Import InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5 by using the Designer.
       • Import InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5 by using istool.
       • Import InfoSphere DataStage, Version 8.5 by using InfoSphere Information Server Manager.
   • Import InfoSphere QualityStage, Version 8.5:
     • Copy files that are not included in the project export.
     • Import projects by using one of the following methods:
       • Import InfoSphere QualityStage, Version 8.5 by using the Designer.
       • Import InfoSphere QualityStage, Version 8.5 by using istool.
   • Importing an application by using InfoSphere Information Services Director, Version 8.5.
   • Import Version 8.5 reports.
   • Import InfoSphere Information Analyzer, Version 8.5.
   • Import InfoSphere FastTrack, Version 8.5 by using one of the following methods:
     • Import InfoSphere FastTrack, Version 8.5 mapping specifications.
     • Import InfoSphere FastTrack, Version 8.5 by using istool.
   • Follow the import steps for Metadata Workbench, Version 8.5 to import Metadata Workbench metadata into Information Governance Catalog.
   • Import InfoSphere Business Glossary, Version 8.5 into Information Governance Catalog by using one of the following methods:
     • Import business glossary content by using Information Governance Catalog.
     • Import InfoSphere Business Glossary, Version 8.5 by using istool.
