You add, update or change the metadata in the metadata
repository by performing an import. Then you can associate the metadata
to a project and use the metadata to map source and target columns
in a project. You can also delete metadata from the metadata repository.
About this task
Before
you can change or delete metadata in the metadata repository, you
must have the connection information that allows you to connect to
the data source.
Procedure
- Click on the Workspace Navigator.
- Select the metadata host name or database name that contains
the metadata that you want to work with. Select the action you want
to complete:

To update the metadata repository |
- Click Import Metadata.
- In Source Configuration, select the connection
to the metadata and provide the database access ID and password that
is required to access the data source.
- Expand the hierarchical tree to view the metadata that you want
to import. You can import schemas or tables.
- Select the metadata that you want to import by pressing the Shift
key or Ctrl key and clicking each one. Click Import.
- Select an Existing Host or New
Host. If you select New Host, provide
the name of the new data source. Click Next.
- Select an Existing Database or New
Database. If you select New Database,
provide the name of the new database.
Important: A connection
used to import metadata into a database in the metadata repository,
cannot be used to import metadata to a different database in the metadata
repository. You receive an error if the connection you chose is used
to import metadata to a metadata database that is different from the
metadata database you specify here.
- Click Close.

To delete the selected metadata |
Click Delete. You can delete only
metadata that you created.
