Reassigning object stores

Complete the validation phase for the content you reassigned to the source and destination object stores.

About this task

Validate that you specified content and that all prerequisites are complete before you reassign object stores.

Procedure

  1. Verify that current backups of the global configuration data database for both the source and destination FileNet® P8 domains are available
  2. Verify that both FileNet P8 domains are available to the FileNet Deployment Manager while the reassign object stores operation is processing.
  3. Suspend activity on the object stores and other entities to be reassigned.
  4. Specify everything to be reassigned and initiate the Reassigning object stores option.
The validation phase begins. The validation phase compares information in the source and destination domains to ensure that all prerequisites are met and no restrictions are violated.
  5. Address any errors from the validate phase before you proceed with the reassign object stores operation.
  6. Select the option to have the reassign operation automatically remove the object store and related entries from the source domain global configuration data.
If you do not select this option, it is your responsibility to ensure that the object store entries are removed from the source domain global configuration data. Verify the removal before the Content Platform Engine at the source can access the database tables, which are now assigned to entities in the destination domain. Failure to do so can result in unpredictable behavior since the Content Platform Engines at the source and destination do not communicate and do not coordinate their access to the database.
