About the End of Service report

The End of Service report helps you determine if any of the products contained in your software instances are approaching or have reached end of service support so that you can plan for future upgrades and migrations.

The items displayed in this report are described in the following sections:

To retrieve the end of service information for a product, click Retrieve End of Service Information. For more details, see help topic Retrieving product information from product information files.

To generate the End of Service report, complete the steps provided in help topic Creating the End of Service report.

End of Service Timeline

The end of service timeline is a visual representation of the information displayed in the Software Instances by Product table. You can use the timeline to quickly determine in which months support services will end for your products. To display the legend for the timeline, click View Legend in an End of Service report. The legend summarizes the information provided in this section.

Figure 1 depicts the end of service timeline.
Figure 1. End of service timeline
Screen capture of the end of service timeline.
The timeline contains 36 bars, which represent the following months:
  • Past Months. Seventeen bars represent the months that occurred before the current month.
  • Current Month. One bar represents the month in which the current date occurs.
  • Near Future Months. Six bars represent the months that will occur within six months after the current month.
  • Distant Future Months. Twelve bars represent the months that will occur more than six months after the current month.

Each bar in the timeline has a label for the month and year the bar represents. The first and last bars have the label <=month-name and >=month-name, where month-name is the latest or earliest month the bar represents. For some bars, the year is explicitly stated. Other bars inherit the year from the last preceding bar that has a year explicitly stated.

If the end of service date for a product occurs within the months included in the timeline, one of the following status icons is displayed for that product:
  • Critical alert or error icon The end of service date has passed.
  • Major warning icon The end of service date equals the current date or will occur within six months of the current date.
  • Warning icon The end of service date will occur more than six months after the current date.

To view information about the corresponding product, place your cursor over the status icon.
