About global zones
A global zone is the SMP/E CSI data set that contains entries needed to identify and describe each target and distribution zone to SMP/E. It also contains information about SMP/E processing options, status information for all system modifications (SYSMODs) SMP/E has begun to process, and exception data for SYSMODs requiring special handling or that are in error.
You can manage global zones only when you are adding, modify, or copying a software instance or deployment. For more details about the global zone management actions, see the sections that follow.
