Creating the Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs report

To generate the Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs report, use the Maintenance Reports > Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs action that is provided for software instances.

Before you begin

Receive the most current FIXCAT HOLDDATA into the global zone associated with the software instance. z/OSMF uses this information to identify the missing FIXCAT SYSMODs. If the HOLDDATA is outdated, the report might be incomplete or inaccurate.

To receive the FIXCAT HOLDDATA, you can use the same process that your installation uses to receive ERROR HOLDDATA because both types of HOLDDATA are supplied in the same file. For more details, see the topic about processing HOLDDATA in SMP/E for z/OS User's Guide.

Procedure

  1. To display a table where you can access the Maintenance Reports > Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs action, complete one of the following steps:
    1. Click Software Instances on the Software Management page.
    2. Select Software Instances from the Switch To menu provided on the Deployments page and the Products page.
    3. In the Software Instances view, invoke the View > Products, Features, and FMIDs action.
    4. In the Products view, invoke the View > Software Instances action.
    5. Create or re-display one of the following maintenance reports: Missing Critical Service, End of Service, or SYSMOD Search.
    6. Invoke the action to create, modify, or copy a deployment. As you navigate through the deployment checklist, several opportunities are provided for you to work with software instances. For example, when you navigate to the Select the software instance to deploy step and the Check for missing SYSMODs step, a list of software instances is displayed.
  2. In the table, select one or more software instances.
  3. From the Actions menu or context menu, select Maintenance Reports > Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs. To create the report, z/OSMF might need to collect information from different systems. In which case, you might be prompted for additional information such as your login credentials for the system or the HTTP proxy information. If prompted, provide the requested information.

Results

A progress indicator is displayed that informs you that z/OSMF is processing the request and might take several minutes to complete. For more details about the indicator, see help topic About progress indicators.

If the report is created, it is displayed in a tab on the Maintenance Reports page. For more details about the items displayed in the report, see help topic About the Missing FIXCAT SYSMODs report.
