You can change the characteristics of MCS, 
HMCS
and SMCS consoles dynamically through MVS™ commands.
Note that using VARY command can only change the console characteristics when the console is active. The exceptions to this are LU and LOGON characteristics, which can be changed for inactive SMCS consoles. See VARY command for more information.
