Creating locations

You can specify and track locations for assets. You can also organize locations into logical hierarchical systems or network systems. Using hierarchies or systems of locations and specifying the location for assets on the asset record provides the groundwork for gathering and tracking information about the history of an asset.

1. On the toolbar of the Locations application, click New Location.
2. In the Location field, specify a value, and type a description.
3. In the Type field, type a value. If the type you choose is Operating, you can select the action Associate Systems with Location from the Select Action menu and place this location in a system and relate it to other locations.
4. Fill additional fields as needed. An asterisk (*) indicates a required field. Some fields display only if the type is Operating.
5. Click Save Location.
