Associating systems with locations

A location can exist in hierarchical systems, in network systems, or in both types of systems. When you associate a hierarchical system with a location, you must specify the parent for the location within that system. This applies if the new location is not the first location assigned to that system. When you associate a network system with a location, specifying the parent for the location is optional.

1. On the Location tab of the Locations application, display the record to which you want to add one or more systems.
2. Select the Associate Systems with Location action.
3. Under the Systems table window, click New Row.
4. In the System field, specify a value.
5. In the Parent field, type a value. If the system you selected in step 4 is a hierarchical system, a parent is required unless this is the first location to be associated with that system.
6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for each system that you want to associate with this location.
7. Click OK and click Save Location.
