For object fields that have a Simple String data type, you
can configure how string data displays to users on an object’s details page. The display types for
Simple String data fall into two basic categories: selector types for displaying users and/or
groups, and text area display types for displaying text and URL information.
Note: Changing the display type setting affects the display of this field in all
profiles.
Procedure

Access the
Profiles page (see Accessing profiles).

Click the name of a profile. The Detail page opens.
- From the Object Types table
listing, click the name of the object type containing the object field
you want to modify (for example, SOXControl).
- On the Object Fields table
for the selected object type, click the name of the object field to
open its detail page.
- On the Object Field Information table,
click Edit.
- On the edit page:
- To make the field required, select the Required box.
- To select a different display type, click
the Display Type arrow and select a value from
the list:

- Click Save.
