Starting and stopping a queue manager

About this task
You can start and stop a queue manager by using commands:
- To start a queue manager, use the strmqm command.
- To stop a queue manager, use the endmqm command, which provides three ways to stop a queue manager: a controlled, or quiesced, shutdown, an immediate shutdown, and a preemptive shutdown.
Alternatively, on Windows and Linux®, you can use the IBM® MQ Explorer to start and stop a queue manager.
On Windows you can configure a queue manager to start automatically when the system starts using the IBM MQ Explorer.
