When planning an installation, it is important to review the list of supported platforms to ensure that you are running on a supported operating system and database version. The platform support matrix that contains the current list of supported platforms can be found at http://www.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/Tivoli_Supported_Platforms.html.
The easiest way to use this tool is to open the spreadsheet in Microsoft® Excel. If you open the spreadsheet with an Internet browser, you cannot use the macros. After you open the spreadsheet, you must enable the macros to see the menu as shown in Figure 5.
Select the product and product components that you are interested in, and then click Display Selection. You see a listing of the operating systems and database versions, and the product that you selected. Information is displayed in the cells might look like C(32,64T) or S(32,64T). The C and S refer to either client or server support respectively. The 32 and 64T mean that 32-bit kernel and 64-bit kernel systems were tested in toleration mode. For 64-bit toleration, the application is a 32-bit application, but can also run on a 64-bit system.
If you do not allow macros to run within Excel, you can still use the Support Matrix spreadsheet, but you might not see the menus as shown above. You can select either the OS Support or the Database Support tab at the bottom of the window, and then search through the spreadsheet for the Tivoli Monitoring products and components.
The platform support matrix refers to the most recently supported versions of the product. In most cases, you need to apply the latest fix pack to your Tivoli Monitoring environment to obtain support for some of the newer operating system and database versions. If you have any questions, the Readme file for each fix pack clearly documents the supported platforms.
