What's new in Version 3.2

These new and enhanced capabilities are available in z/OS® Explorer Version 3.2.

Table 1. New and enhanced functions from V3.2.0.23 to V3.2.0.24
Function Description
Added a new JVM property option include.info.msg in the rse.env configuration file. The ACF2 informational ACF0C038 message from a TSO logon session is now filtered out from the TSO command execution result by default to avoid being processed as errors. Set the property to true to include the message as-is in the command execution result. For more information, see rse.env, the RSE configuration file.
Table 2. New and enhanced functions from V3.2.0.20 to V3.2.0.22
Function Description
Added a new variable RSE_APPLID to the RSE configuration file. You can use this variable to specify the RSE application ID. For more information, see rse.env, the RSE configuration file.
Table 3. New and enhanced functions in V3.2.0.19
Function Description
Added new public resource API and interface in the package com.ibm.ftt.jes.util.core to support the callback mechanism for the job submit API. You can now provide your own implementation of the call back methods that can be run after the job finished executing when calling the job submit API in the package com.ibm.ftt.jes.util.core. For more information, see Remote Resource API documentation.
Added support of Application Transparent Transport Layer Security (AT-TLS) connection with user/password authentication. You can now configure your host and RSE server to support AT-TLS connection using user/password authentication. For more information, see (Optional) Setting up AT-TLS.
Table 4. New and enhanced functions in V3.2.0.18
Function Description
Export JES job spools to remote data sets You can now export JES job spools to a remote partitioned data set or sequential data set. For more information, see Exporting JES job spools to remote data sets.
Added new encoding preference option for cross-system UNIX file transfer You can now choose to use either source or target encoding when transferring a UNIX file across systems in text mode. Previously, cross-system copy preserves the originating encoding of the file, but you are now provided with the option to have the target encoding based on the default native encoding, rather than the original encoding. For more information, see Setting up encoding preferences for cross-system UNIX file transfer.
Added a new retrieve data sets option to restrict search on additional qualifiers The new Include additional qualifiers option to restrict search on additional qualifiers allows you to refine the results when retrieving data sets. The option will limit the result of data sets by matching the number of data set qualifiers to that of the search query. This is similar to clearing the Include additional qualifiers option on the ISPF 3.4 option screen.
Table 5. New and enhanced functions in V3.2.0.17
Function Description
Update the DISPLAY OWNER,DATASET={dataset | dataset(member)} command in MODIFY RSED operator command RSE now can support DISPLAY OWNER with extended lock info tracker. You can also use the command with the ALL command option with the extended lock info tracker enabled to display the detailed data set enqueue information in table format in a single BPXM023I message. For more information, see RSE daemon.
Execute JES Job Monitor as a user job You can now execute JES Job Monitor as a user job. When JES Job Monitor is not active as a started task, it will query your security product for explicit permission to start. For more information, see JMON, JES Job Monitor started task.
Security in starting up RSE daemon as a user job You can now execute RSE daemon as a user job securely. When RSE daemon is not active as a started task, it will query your security product for explicit permission to start. For more information, see RSED, RSE daemon started task.
Update to JES Security When JES Job Monitor queries for permission to the related profile in the JESSPOOL class, you can make JES Job Monitor assure access is granted when the JESSPOOL class is not active. For more information, see Access to spool files.
New definition DISPLAY_ACTIVE added to FEJJCNFG, the JES Job Monitor configuration file You can use this definition to control whether a client can show system information. For more information, see FEJJCNFG, the JES Job Monitor configuration file.
Add new options to requeue jobs You can change the output class of a finished job to route the data to a different class so it can be processed differently. In addition, you can also change the execution class of a waiting job so it can be rerouted to another class if it is waiting in the wrong class.
Added a new Cache expiry time (in seconds) preference setting You can use the new preference setting to control the cache expiry time for an MVS file, which is useful in IDz when copybooks are not configured to have ISPF stats.
Added new options to import or export column settings from Remote Systems Details The new options to import or export column settings from the Remote Systems Details can facilitate the sharing of column settings across a team.
Added the ability to work with the SR6 FP35 version of JZOS Added the ability to work with the SR6 FP35 version of JZOS in Java projects.
Added the ability to export or import multiple RSE connections Added the ability to export or import multiple RSE connections to or from a workspace at one time from the Remote Systems view.
Table 6. New and enhanced functions in V3.2.0.16
Function Description
Enable extended lock tracker You can enable the extended lock tracker service to track lock information. For more information, see (Optional) Extended lock tracker.
Display system and active job address space information You can display system and active job address space information, such as CPU consumption, memory usage, which is comparable to the SDSF Display Active (DA) panel. For more information, see Displaying system and active job address space information.
Compare MVS Files and UNIX Files You can compare MVS files and UNIX files that were opened in the editor previously. For more information, see The Remote Edit History view.
Compare job spool files You can compare the structure and source of two job spool files. For more information, see Comparing job spool files.
Enable hyperlinks for created resources If enabled, a message that contains a hyperlink is displayed after you create an MVS or USS resource. By clicking the hyperlink, the created resource is selected directly in the Remote Systems view. For more information, see Enabling hyperlinks for created resources.
Monitor remote system resources This feature enables you to dynamically adjust polling interval in Remote Monitor view when polling z/OS resources such as USS, MVS, JES, so that backend is not overwhelmed with frequent responses on expensive resources. For more information, see Monitoring remote system resources.
Table 7. New and enhanced functions in V3.2.0.15
Function Description
GDGE support GDGE, an extended GDG, is supported now. For more information, see Viewing and working with generation data groups.
Export JES job spools You can now export JES job spools to local files. For more information, see Exporting JES job spools to local files.

Table 9. New and enhanced functions in V3.2.0.12
Function Description
A new JVM option seqsosi.to.spaces is added to rse.env. You can use this option to automatically replace the sequential combinations of SO and SI symbols in valid DBCS data set text content with spaces. It is to avoid a column shift left in display and read-only mode when the data set file is opened. For more information, see rse.env, the RSE configuration filerseapi.env, the RSE API configuration file and Defining extra Java startup parameters with _RSE_JAVAOPTS.
Table 10. New and enhanced functions from V3.2.0.10 to V3.2.0.11
Function Description
A new option SORT is added to the DISPLAY PROCESS CPU modify command. You can use the SORT option to sort the threads of each thread pool by user ID or CPU time. For more information, see Operator Command, RSE daemon.
Updates to ICSF When you use JCECCARACFKS, ICSF does permission checks at thread level instead of process level for JCERACFKS, which implies that each user ID that connects must have access to the private key of the server certificate. For more information, see (Optional) ssl.properties, the RSE encrypted communication.
A new definition GSK_SERVER_TLS_KEY_SHARES is added to rse.env. You can use this definition to specify the encryption key share groups in order of preference as a string consisting of one or more 4-character values. For more information, see rse.env, the RSE configuration filerseapi.env, the RSE API configuration file.
