Planning for storage providers

PowerVC uses the OpenStack cinder block storage service to interact with storage devices. Use this information to ensure that your storage provider is set up to work with PowerVC.

EMC VNX and EMC PowerMax (VMAX)

IBM Storwize® family
For supported models, requirements, and restrictions, refer to OpenStack support summary. Starting PowerVC version 2.0.0, you can use the Global Mirror functionality of IBM Storwize for volume replication. You can register a secondary storage for global mirror on the Storage details page of the user interface or through API. For details, see Global Mirror feature on IBM Storwize.
