An attempt was made to define more data devices than are allowed. See Table 1 for the allowable maximums.

An attempt was made to activate an OSA-Express feature with device addresses defined in the IDX command that are not consistent with those defined in the IODF. Ensure all device addresses defined in the IDX command are defined in the IODF, defined for the correct CHPID, and all with channel path type OSD

An attempt was made to establish a connection on a device that has been put into "exclusive use" mode. z/VM uses "exclusive use" for devices that are part of a link aggregate group on a virtual switch. If you are running OSA/SF, you can query the OSA to find out which VSWITCH is currently using it.

If you are activating an image on an OSX feature, check for the following:
  1. Make sure the CSS.MIF ID are specified in the OSX configuration file.
  2. Any devices defined in the TRLE are in the range specified in the OSX configuration file.
