Removing roles and deleting users in Self Service

Remove roles from users, or delete users altogether by using Self Service to disable their access to update or perform tasks on IBM® Sterling Order Management System environments.

Before you begin

To remove a user role or delete a user completely, ensure that your IBMid is assigned the Organization Administrator role for the organization.

Procedure

  1. Open Self Service. After you log in, the User role management dashboard, which includes a list of users and their assigned roles is displayed.
  2. Click the user from whose profile you want to remove a role.
The User summary window is displayed.
  3. Remove individual user roles, or delete the user to remove access from the environment or organization:
    • To remove a user's role:
      1. Under the Roles section, clear the checkbox for each role that you want to remove from that user.
      2. Click Save.
    • To delete a user completely:
      1. Click Delete . A confirmation message is displayed.
      2. Click Delete to confirm the deletion. Click to confirm the deletion.

Results

Only the selected change in role or roles are applied to the user. Any roles that were cleared are no longer applied to the user, and the user is no longer able to perform any associated tasks. If all roles are removed from the user, or if the user is deleted, they are no longer able to access your organization on IBM Sterling Order Management System .

Organization Administrator and Developer roles have special characteristics, and are managed differently than other users. If an Organization Administrator or Developer was created in Self Service then when its roles are removed, its corresponding roles in all environment instances will be removed as well.

Note: If you remove all roles for a user, the user is removed from the list of users for the organization on the User role management dashboard. Only users that are assigned a role display in the list of users. To assign roles to the user again, you must repeat the process to add the user and assign roles.
