Creating users and assigning roles in Self Service

Assign roles to users by using Self Service to provide them with access to complete tasks on IBM® Sterling Order Management System environments.

Before you begin

You must have the Organization Administrator role to view the list of users.

About this task

It might take up to thirty minutes for the new Organization Administrator and Developer roles to take effect for a user in all environments.

When a new non-production environment is added, the roles that are assigned for existing non-production environments are automatically created for the new environment.

Procedure

To create users and assign roles in Self Service, complete the following steps:

  1. Open Self Service. For more information, see Accessing Self Service.
  2. From the Open menu, click User management.
You can view the list of users and the roles assigned to them.
  3. Click Add user. The Assign Roles window opens.
  4. In the IBMid field, enter the email address of the user used to register for the IBMid to whom you want to assign a role.
  5. Optional: Add Notes for reference.

Only Organization Administrators can read the notes.

  6. Select the checkboxes for the roles that you want to assign to the user.

For information about the roles that you can assign and the tasks that the roles can do, see Organization operations roles within Self Service.

  7. Click Create.
    A confirmation is displayed.

Results

The selected role or roles are applied to the email address. An email is sent to the user's IBMid to inform them of their role assignment. This email also includes details for accessing Self Service.

In addition to the notification of role assignments, emails are also sent to the users to inform about the changes to environments. For instance, users are sent a notification when an environment is updated by IBM to include new features. Email notifications are also sent if Self Service or an environment is unavailable due to an unexpected outage or the implementation of maintenance by IBM.

What to do next

To ensure that your users receive these notifications, request that your users add the domain noreply@oms.supply-chain.ibm.com to your network firewall domain list for your email client or configure your email spam filter to not identify the domain as spam.
