Deploying customization or custom runtime image on the legacy platform

Users with the Developer role can either build and deploy a customized runtime or deploy an existing runtime image in the Self Service. When you build a customization, you have the option to deploy it immediately after it is built.

About this task

When you select the option to deploy customization or customized runtime image, a process is started. The details of the process can be viewed on the Processes tab.

Procedure

  1. Access the Self Service with your IBMid.
  2. From the Self Serve menu, select Environments.

    The Environments dashboard is displayed.

  3. From the list of environments, select the environment where you want to deploy a customization.
  4. In the Customization tab, click Deploy customization.
  5. To build a customized runtime, complete the following steps:
    1. From the Select deployment type drop-down list, select Build customized runtime.
    2. Select the Package from the drop-down list.
  6. To deploy an image, complete the following steps:
    1. From the Select deployment type drop-down list, select Update OMS.

Only those packages that are already built and ready for deploying are available for selection.

    2. Click Import versions to import the packages immediately that are uploaded.

Earlier it took up to an hour for an uploaded package to be available for deploying. With the import version option, you do not need to wait for the scheduler to make the packages available. When you click Import versions, a job is run to make the packages available for deploying immediately.

If a version import process is in progress, the Version import in progress message is displayed when you select the package.

    3. Click Refresh for the list to be refreshed with the latest deployed packages.

The status of the process is checked and any new packages that are available are loaded.

Tip: If the list is not refreshed, wait for a few minutes and then click Refresh again.
    4. Select the Runtime image from the drop-down list.

Only those packages that are already built are available for selection from the drop-down list.

  7. To build a customized runtime and deploy its image at the same time, complete the following steps:
    1. From the Select deployment type drop-down list, select Build customized runtime and update OMS.

You can select any custom package, not just the package that is already built.

    2. Select the Package from the drop-down list.

Only those packages that are already built and ready for deploying are available for selection from the drop-down list. If a version import process is in progress, the Version import in progress message is displayed when you select the package.

Note: Based on the features that you are entitled to, pass store, fields sales, or call center values are automatically selected and displayed in the Self Service for the different processes. The values are not displayed on the UI.

If you purchase any of the add-ons at a later point, the onboarding manager must update the entitlement in the organization update screen. The manager must also inform the you that the environment will be updated with new entitlements when deployment jobs are run the next time.

  8. Optional: Select the Start date and Start time.

The time is scheduled in the UTC time zone.

  9. Optional: Add Notes.
  10. Click Deploy.
Note: If any process is in progress in the Processes tab and a deployment process is run from the Deployments tab, it is added in the queue and is started after the processes in the Processes tab are complete.
