About this task
Configuring Tivoli Storage Manager device drivers for vendor acquired SCSI-attached devices
You can configure Tivoli Storage
Manager device drivers
in two different ways. If you must selectively configure attached
devices, you can run individual commands for tape drives and libraries.
Or, you can use the auto configuration command to configure all devices
that are attached to your system.
Editing configuration files
For SCSI-attached devices, the configuration files must
contain one stanza for each SCSI-attached device that the Tivoli Storage
Manager server is
to use. You can edit the mt.conf file for tape drives
and the lb.conf file for library devices.
Preventing tape labels from being overwritten Tivoli Storage
Manager tape
labels can be overwritten by an application that uses a generic or
native
device driver. If tape labels are overwritten, data can be lost.
