Format dimension members in Planning Analytics Workspace

You can set the format for values in dimension members in the dimension editor. The default format is General.

For example, you can format a member as a date picker, as a currency value, or as scientific notation. You can also create custom formats.
Note:

Analysts or Modelers can set formats in a cube view or on an individual cell. Formats set directly in a view or cell override formats set on dimension members.

Procedure

  1. In the Databases tree, click Dimensions, right-click the dimension that you want to edit and click Edit dimension.
  2. Click the Attributes tab.
  3. Select the member or members for which you want to assign a format .
  4. Click the action icon dimension editor action button on the toolbar, then click Format values.
  5. Select the format.

If not already present, the first time you specify a format for a member a new Format attribute is added to the dimension.

  6. You can set the format for all members in the dimension at the same time in the Format attributes column. Click the Format attributes header, then click the Action icon dimension editor action button on the toolbar and click Format values.

What to do next

To format a member as text, set the member type to string. For more information, see Change the type of members to numeric or text in Planning Analytics Workspace.
