Installing and configuring host components

If you use a host of your own, instead of provisioning z/OS® instances by using the Sandbox component, install and configure host components to enable the functions for the Code component.

The following table maps out the host components that are required for different IDEs. Follow the order specified in the table to install and configure the host components.

The following host components are provided with the Code component of Wazi Developer 1.3:
z/OS Explorer 3.2.0.16
Provides basic access to MVS™ data sets, z/OS UNIX files and JES spool files.
z/OS Explorer Extensions 15.0.2
Allows the client to work with various components of your z/OS host system.
Remote System Explorer API 1.0.5
Provides a collection of REST APIs that allow a client to work with various components on the z/OS host system.
z/OS Debugger 15.0.2
Provides advanced debugging of composite applications for all your z/OS environments.
Dependency Based Build 1.1.0
A general-purpose scripting build tool for building applications on z/OS.
Rocket Git for z/OS 1.1.1
A version control system (VCS) for tracking changes in computer files and coordinating work on those files among multiple people. If you want to use IBM Dependency Based Build with Git, you need to install this host component on the same z/OS systems you install the DBB host component.
Z Open Automation Utilities 1.1.0
Provides the underlying runtime to support executing automation tasks on z/OS via Java™, Python, and shell commands.

Host Configuration Assistant for Z Development

You can use Host Configuration Assistant for Z Development (HCA) to generate customized checklists for these components, and then refer to this section for more details. HCA is a cloud-based wizard that is designed to simplify planning and configuring of Z development products.
