What's new in IBM Cúram Social Program Management Platform 7.0.5

Some updates have been made to IBM® Cúram Social Program Management Platform in version 7.0.5.

Evidence documentation

In previous versions of the product documentation, information that relates to designing, developing, configuring, processing, reviewing, and sharing evidence was distributed across several sections. The information that was contained in the sections has been reorganized into a single, consolidated evidence section. The aim of the new structure is to make it easier for users to locate the information that they need, by organizing the information in the following logical, navigational order: Some new information has also been added to the understanding and designing evidence sections, to provide context for the detailed information that is discussed later on. The following sections from previous versions of the documentation are now incorporated in the new evidence section:
  • Cúram evidence overview
  • Designing evidence solutions
  • Cúram evidence generator business guide
  • Evidence generator specification
  • Modeling for the evidence generator
  • Developing with the evidence generator
  • Developing with evidence
  • Configuring dynamic evidence
  • Evidence broker

The Upgrading evidence section has been removed because it is no longer applicable. Evidence-related screens were restructured and enhanced in IBM Cúram Social Program Management version 6.0, and several screens were either added or updated. The Upgrading evidence section was provided to help customers who were moving from earlier versions of IBM Cúram Social Program Management to version 6.0 or later. The section provided information about how to use the new features if the customers had developed custom screens.

Because the vast majority of customers are now on at least IBM Cúram Social Program Management version 6.0 or later, the section has been removed from this version of the documentation. If customers still need to access the information, it is available in earlier versions of the product documentation.

New customization hook point to override the evidence start and end dates

Where the business start and end dates are not configured on an evidence record, organizations can use a new customization hook point to customize the default business start and end dates. Previously, when the business start date was not configured, the evidence start date could not be determined. As a result, the infrastructure returned the case start date to indicate when the evidence began and the case end date to indicate when the evidence ended. However, in some cases, the period that was displayed did not reflect the true business start and end dates.

Where a business start date is not configured, you can override the business start date by using the EvidencePeriodHook customization hook point. When you use the EvidencePeriodHook, anywhere that uses the getPeriodForEvidenceRecord method returns the overridden date, for example, the Evidence List pages and the Incoming Evidence List pages.

For more information about how the evidence period is calculated, see Evidence period calculation. For more information about the new EvidencePeriodHook customization hook point, see Customizing the evidence start and end date.

Universal Access (New) life events feature and other usability enhancements

The life events feature set is now enabled in Universal Access. The life events feature enables citizens to report significant life changes that might affect the programs and services that they receive or are due to receive. Life events also might include links to job seekers websites, tips on how to write resumes, and advice on how to write effective cover letters.

The user experience has also been improved with the following enhancements:
Usability enhancements
A new Tell us if anything has changed card on the dashboard to enable citizens to easily and quickly update their circumstances.
The Profile page is also updated with the Tell us if anything has changed card.
A new section on the Profile page lists all the life event changes that citizens can make.
A new life event Overview page that citizens see before they start filling out their details.
A Confirmation page that tells citizens when their details have been submitted successfully.

For more information about the life events feature, see Life events.

Other enhancements that are now available in Universal Access (New) are:
Icon configuration
A setting has been added to IBM Cúram Social Program Management administrative application, which allows a system administrator to add icons to web pages in Universal Access (New). When set up, the icons can be added to the individual web pages against programs to display a visual representation of that program to the citizen when checking their eligibility or applying for benefits.
Sign-up success notification
On successfully creating an account and signing up to Universal Access, the citizen will be presented with a success banner on the page they are returned to after signing up. The implementation of this banner has been completed using a Toast Notification, which allows the banner to appear whenever a successful sign-up occurs regardless of the web page the citizen is returned to. This means the citizen can be returned to their IEG form if signing up mid-application, and this banner will appear or anywhere else the citizen is returned to.

Refreshed development compliancy documentation

When you develop IBM Cúram Social Program Management applications, you must comply with certain guidelines to ensure that you can easily upgrade to future versions without affecting your custom functionality. Compliance with the guidelines is essential to ensure that IBM Support can better support your custom implementation.

We have refreshed the development compliancy information for improved clarity and readability, in particular the server compliancy guidance and the supported server extension mechanisms. For more information, see Developing Compliantly with IBM Cúram Social Program Management.

Support for running the Upgrade Helper on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux® (RHEL) platform

Support has been added for running the Upgrade Helper on the RHEL platform. Previously, the Upgrade Helper tool was available only for the Windows platform. Now you can run all of the standard upgrade helper targets on the RHEL platform. In addition, a new helper script that is named upgrade has been added to the Upgrade Helper deliverable that wraps the standard upgrade helper targets. The script provides a convenient mechanism to invoke the targets on the newly supported RHEL platform.

Changes to the Upgrade Helper release process

A single IBM Cúram Upgrade Helper release will be available for download at the appropriate Fix Central location, and not one Upgrade Helper release per IBM Cúram Social Program Management release as was previously the case. As each IBM Cúram Social Program Management release becomes available, the single Upgrade Helper deliverable will be updated with the relevant approved migration paths and associated metadata. The new process should alleviate any confusion amongst customers as to what upgrade helper is associated with each IBM Cúram Social Program Management version and upgrade, and which upgrade helper to download and use for a particular upgrade path. From now on, customers can download the single available upgrade helper deliverable and use it to execute an upgrade between any approved source and target version of IBM Cúram Social Program Management.
