New in V5.5.0 fix packs

Fix packs for IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS V5.5.0 include the following enhancements:

APAR OA61653, APAR OA65473 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0013

This fix pack contains the following enhancements:

  • Both the OMEGAMON Enhanced 3270 user interface and the Tivoli Enterprise Portal now display the same Coupling Facility Paths data when RMF is collecting CF/XCF/LOCK data and when the OMEGAMON agent (not RMF) is directly collecting CF/XCF/LOCK data. For a description of the Coupling Facility Paths attributes, see CF Path attributes. (APAR OA61653)
  • IBM withdrew the IBM z Systems Advanced Workload Analysis Reporter (zAware) feature. IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS no longer monitors the zAware feature. (APAR OA65473)

APAR OA64169, APAR OA64033, and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0011

This fix pack contains the following enhancements:

  • Enhanced monitoring of LPAR clusters: This fix pack restores the granularity of the Physical %CPU and CPs %CPU attributes to an accuracy of 1 decimal place, and adds two new attributes, Physical CPU% and CPs CPU%, with an accuracy of 3 decimal places. (APAR OA64169)
  • Globalization to enable translation of content that was delivered in fix packs since the OMEGAMON for z/OS V550 GA release, in preparation for a new language pack. (APAR OA64033)

APAR OA63642 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0010

This fix pack contains enhancements to the LPAR clusters metrics. The OMEGAMON for z/OS agent now calculates an additional attribute, CPU Demand%, and increases the precision of the CPs %CPU and Physical %CPU attributes. For more information about these attributes, see LPAR Clusters attributes.

APAR OA63587 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0009

This fix pack adds support for multiple time zones for historical CPC reporting. The OMEGAMON for z/OS agents responsible for collecting CPC-related metrics now record the UTC time of the metrics, and the workspaces that issue the queries convert the recorded UTC time to the local time where the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 user interface is running. Recording End Time UTC and Recording Start Time UTC attributes have been added to the following attribute groups:

APAR OA62829 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0008

IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS includes the following new features:

APAR OA60537 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0006

IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS introduces support for improved history collection and reporting, WLM tenant resource groups and tenant report classes, additional WLM resource group and report class metrics, colocated container solution billing metrics, z/OS container extensions, and displaying SMF ID in additional enhanced 3270UI workspaces.

In the product documentation, “IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS Version 5.5 Fix Pack 6” or “Fix Pack 6” refers to the support that is delivered by APAR 60537 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0006.

  • Support for Persistent Data Store Version 2 (PDS V2) based history collection and reporting. For more information about PDS V2, see "Persistent Data Store V2 (PDS V2)" in the IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON and Tivoli Management Services on z/OS Shared Documentation.

The IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS agents running in the Tivoli Enterprise Management Server (not the OMEGAMON subsystem) collect RMF data for near-term history. The RTE_KM5_NTH, RTE_KCN_CACHE_KM5_NTH and RTE_KCN_CACHE_KM5_NTH parameters are not used. The RTE_KCN_CACHE_KM5_RMF_DDS continues to be used by the IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS monitoring agents.

History collection is not enabled by default. You can configure some additional attribute groups in the historical collection. In addition, PDS V2 does not use the PLEXDATA group; it stores all historical data for IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS in the LPARDATA group. Review the value for the KM5_PD_CYL_LPARDATA parameter in PARMGEN: you might need to increase it to make room for the extra historical data that is stored in the persistent data store.

  • Support for WLM tenant resource groups and tenant report classes.
  • Support for additional WLM resource group and report class metrics from the RMF Distributed Data Server (RMF DDS).
  • Support for colocated container solution billing metrics.
  • Identify z/OS container extensions (zCX) address spaces.
  • The SMF ID is now displayed to complement the z/OS system name in several enhanced 3270UI workspaces.

APAR OA57103 and interim fix 5.5.0.4-TIV-KM5-IF0001

The TopUser attributes are updated to include additional enumerations for the LastSvcCall attribute.

APAR OA56675 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0004

IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS enhances the monitoring of CPC statistics and WLM service and report classes:

  • The KM5 CPC Details attributes and the KM5 CPC Summary attributes are added to improve the monitoring of CPC statistics in the enterprise.
  • The WLM service and report classes are displayed in new and updated Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) workspaces.
  • TEP workspaces are developed to display RMF historical data.

APAR OA55392 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0003

  • The Java certificates used by the TEP browser and TEP Java webstart clients expired on November 1, 2018. This maintenance update includes a renewed Java certificate which expires on June 5, 2021.
  • The tacmd exportworkspaces with the -q option for z/OS does not export all workspaces. Several of these errors are seen: “SEVERE: --> RequestException caught, error code =-109”. Queries for several workspaces are corrected.

APAR OA55274 and fix pack 5.5.0-TIV-KM5-FP0002

The WLM report class and service class monitoring is enhanced to provide additional metrics and to report on all report classes, service classes, and periods. This includes these features:

  • The WLM Class Sysplex Metrics attribute group is added to monitor WLM service class periods and report class periods in a Sysplex. For more information, see WLM Class Sysplex Metrics attribute group.
  • The WLM Class Raw Extended Metrics attribute group provides information on WLM Service Class Periods and Report Class Periods as a set of raw values that can be consumed from multiple z/OS images for Sysplex-level aggregate metric calculations. For more information, see WLM Class Raw Extended Metrics attribute group.
  • Workspaces in the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 user interface
  • Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) workspaces
  • Historical collection of WLM Class Sysplex Metrics attribute group, configured through the Tivoli Enterprise Portal or the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 user interface
  • TEP queries for the new attribute groups
  • The WLM major command is enhanced in the IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS classic interface, including adding some minor commands, to collect and display the metrics.
