New in V5.5.0

IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS supports IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.3 Fix Pack 6 and z/OS V2.1. OMEGAMON for z/OS V5.5 introduces real-time and near-term history monitoring for PCIe cards, Storage Class Memory, enhancements to monitoring Coupling Facilities, and enhancements to near-term history monitoring for z/OS real storage.

##TEST TEST TEST ## Near-term history provides intuitive access to the historical data collected by the OMEGAMON for z/OS agents from Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) Monitor III. Two attribute groups have been added to monitor additional resources with real-time and near-term history data:

  • PCIE Device Summary attributes provide information on PCIE devices for a single RMF period or 5-minute Near Term History period in a requested historical report.
  • SCM Device Summary attributes provide information on Storage Class Memory cards for a single RMF period or 5-minute Near Term History period in a requested historical report.

For descriptions of the attribute groups and attributes, see Attributes. For a complete list of near-term history attribute groups, see Investigate problems that occurred in the recent past by using the OMEGAMON Enhanced 3270 user interface.

The OMEGAMON for z/OS agent has been modified to collect and display many new Coupling Facility (CF) metrics. View information about the channel paths that are connecting a z/OSsystem with a coupling facility. View additional information about coupling facilities, systems and address spaces using CF structures, and CF structure details.

The Real Storage workspaces in the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 user interface now display a historical view of auxiliary storage statistics by address space. Included in these displays are metrics on the new 2 GB frames, in addition to metrics for the 1 MB and 4K frames. Quickly gain insight into your real, virtual, and auxiliary storage by address space as the usage changes over time.

IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS V550 discontinues support for the End-to-End (FMID HKET620) component, Epilog and OMEGAMON II (CUA).

  • Actual Network, in attribute group Sysplex WLM Service Class Period, will be assigned a value displayed as "Unavailable". This attribute is displayed in the following workspaces:
    • Sysplex Level Overview
    • Service Classes Data for Sysplex
    • Systems Workspace for Service Class
  • The OMEGAMON for z/OS monitoring agent no longer returns any rows for the User Response Time attribute group. The User Response Time workspace displays "User Response Time is no longer supported at v550 and above."
  • The following situations, which display one or more of the above mentioned attributes, are obsolete:
    • OS390_User_Total_Res_Time_Crit
    • OS390_User_Total_Res_Time_Warn
    • OS390_Network_ResponseTime_Crit
    • OS390_Network_ResponseTime_Warn
