Apr 29,2015

IBM today voiced its support for legislation introduced in the United States Senate that would curb abuse of America’s patent system while preserving innovation.

Washington, D.C. – IBM today released the following statement on introduction of the Protecting American Talent and Entrepreneurship Act of 2015:

“IBM applauds the introduction today of the Protecting American Talent and Entrepreneurship Act of 2015 (PATENT Act) by Senate Judiciary Chairman Grassley, Ranking Member Leahy, and Senators Schumer, Cornyn, Klobuchar, Hatch, and Lee. IBM especially appreciates the leadership and hard work of Senators Schumer, Cornyn, Leahy, and Grassley to produce bi-partisan legislation to curb abusive patent behavior while preserving innovation.

This comprehensive legislation will enhance America’s competitive edge in the global marketplace by curbing abusive practices in our patent litigation system while also protecting innovations that spur economic growth. We urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to swiftly move forward with this consensus, bi-partisan legislation.”
