Learn about Communications Server for Data Center Deployment

Combined functionalities

IBM Communications Server for Data Center Deployment combines many functionalities into one product offering: server support for AIX, Linux, and Linux on System z, as well as client/server support for Microsoft™ Windows™, AIX and Linux. This allows IBM Systems Network Architecture (SNA) to be configured and managed in a more central location. It reduces administration costs, concentrates SNA resources and provides a cloud-like implementation.

Communications Server for Data Center Deployment on AIX

IBM Communications Server for Data Center Deployment on AIX connects applications across SNA and TCP/IP networks. It converts a workstation running AIX into an SNA node by equipping it with SNA resources and protocols. It enables the workstation to communicate with other computers in an SNA network, including host computers. It also provides TCP/IP functions to allow it to be used within your TCP/IP network or at the boundary between TCP/IP and SNA networks.

Communications Server for Data Center Deployment on Linux

IBM Communications Server for Data Center Deployment on Linux connects applications across SNA and TCP/IP networks. It converts a Linux computer into an SNA node by equipping it with SNA resources and protocols. It enables the Linux computer to communicate with other computers in an SNA network, including host computers. It also provides TCP/IP functions to allow it to be used within your TCP/IP network or at the boundary between TCP/IP and SNA networks.

Communications Server for Data Center Deployment on System z

IBM Communications Server for Linux (CS Linux) and the Communications Server for Linux on System z are mainly the same product. An exception is that Linux on System z supports hyper-sockets connections.
