Installing by using the Launchpad
You can install WSRR
interactively by using the Launchpad on Windows
and Linux systems. These instructions assume that you do not have existing installations of the
prerequisite base products necessary for WSRR installation. These include WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment and IBM® Installation Manager.
Before you begin
Before you can install WSRR, note the
following points:
- You must be installing on a Windows or Linux system. (To install interactively on Solaris or AIX, you must start the Installation Manager directly from the command line; see Installing by using the IBM Installation Manager GUI.)
- Review the list of prerequisites for installing the product in the topic Prerequisites for installing WSRR, particularly the operating system and software prerequisite levels. Although the installation process automatically checks for prerequisite operating system patches, review the prerequisites at http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wsrr/sysreqs/. The website lists all supported operating systems and the operating system fixes and patches that you must install to have a compliant operating system. It also lists the required levels of all prerequisite software.
- Because the launchpad is a web application, ensure that you have a supported version of a web
browser installed.
The platform-specific pages in the following section of the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment documentation contain detailed instructions for installing supported web browsers on all platforms: Preparing the operating system for product installation.
- You must install the Bash shell package to use the launchpad application. Although the Bash shell must be installed, you do not have to use the Bash shell to run the launchpad.sh command. If you attempt to run the launchpad application without the Bash shell installed, the launchpad fails with an error message indicating that the Bash interpreter is not found.
- If installing on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012, you must start the launchpad as a local administrator. You must also run the launchpad with elevated Microsoft Windows user account privileges. On 32-bit systems, right-click launchpad.exe and select Run as administrator. On 64-bit systems, right-click launchpad64.exe and select Run as administrator.
