Troubleshooting

Use this information to identify and resolve problems that you might encounter when using IBM® Storage Virtualize Plugin for Veeam Backup and Replication.

Locating raw log files (file system)

For detailed troubleshooting of IBM Storage FlashSystem integration, raw log files are available on the Veeam backup server.
  • On the Microsoft Windows-based backup server, logs are stored in the following folders of the Veeam backup server:
    • For installation and upgrade logs, go to %ProgramData%\Veeam\Setup\Temp folder.
    • For job-specific logs, go to %ProgramData%\Veeam\Backup folder. These logs contain granular details about storage snapshot orchestration and communication with the IBM Storage FlashSystem.
    • For PowerShell logs, go to %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Veeam\Backup\VeeamPowerShell.log.
  • On the Linux-based backup servers, logs are stored in the following folders of the Veeam backup server:
    • For the Veeam updater logs, go to /var/log/veeam directory.
    • For the job-specific logs, go to /var/log/VeeamBackup directory.
    • For the system logs, go to /var/log directory.

Exporting logs

To collect logs for further analysis or support:
  • Open the Main Menu in the Veeam console.
  • Select Help > Support Information.
  • Go to the Export logs for this job, then select the relevant IBM Storage FlashSystem job.
  • Specify the required date range and a destination folder to save the generated log bundle.

Viewing logs

Logs and job activity can be reviewed directly in the Veeam console.

Job statistics:
  • Go to Home > Jobs.
  • Right-click the IBM Storage FlashSystem backup job and select Statistics. This view displays summary information, including processed data, transfer rates, errors, and warnings. For detailed guidance, see the demo.
Session history:
  • Go to the History view in the navigation pane.
  • Expand Jobs and select Backup or Replication. The session list displays past job executions. Select a session to view detailed logs.

Collecting IBM Storage FlashSystem logs

For issues related to the storage system such as snapshot creation failures, collect IBM Storage FlashSystem logs from IBM support page. For detailed instructions, see IBM support.
