Licensing for IBM Storage Ceph

Red Hat Extended Update Support (EUS) and Red Hat Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) licensing information.

IBM provides various support options:

  • IBM Standard Support. For more information, see IBM Software Subscription & Support Overview.
  • IBM Advanced Support provides enhanced priority care that extends IBM Standard support. You must maintain IBM Standard support for your IBM Advanced support eligibility. For more information, see IBM Advanced Support.
  • IBM Extended Support provides support beyond the standard product lifecycle as an extension of IBM Standard support. You must maintain IBM Standard support for your IBM Extended support eligibility. For more information, see IBM Extended Support.
  • IBM Sustained Support provides end of life support that supplants IBM Standard support. For more information, see IBM Sustained Support.

IBM Standard support covers the Red Hat Premium Support-based lifecycle for included Red Hat products. Additionally, the following extended support options from Red Hat are included:

  • Red Hat Extended Update Support (EUS) Term 1 for Red Hat OpenShift (only for even numbered releases of Red Hat OpenShift).

IBM Extended support does not include extended support options from Red Hat. Red Hat EUS or ELS Term 1 can be included with IBM Standard support or IBM Sustained support.

IBM Sustained support covers the Red Hat Premium Support-based lifecycle for included Red Hat products. Additionally, the following extended support options from Red Hat are included:

  • Red Hat Extended Update Support (EUS) Term 1 for Red Hat OpenShift (only for even numbered releases of Red Hat OpenShift).

If customers with perpetual license entitlement do not renew Subscription and Support, their support access key expires, and they are no longer able to download product images from the IBM entitled registry (cp.icr.io). They therefore lose access to the product images unless they mirror the product images from the IBM entitled registry to a customer-owned registry (before Subscription and Support lapses) and configure their system to pull from this registry.

Support availability for each IBM Storage Ceph release follows the published support model as described in the announcement letter. For an updated view of which releases are supported and whether fixes are available for each release, review What are the Red Hat and IBM Storage Ceph releases and corresponding Ceph package versions? on IBM Support.
