Concurrent User License Installation Instructions for IBM SPSS Statistics
Read the following instructions to install IBM® SPSS® Statistics version 30 by using the license type concurrent license. This document is for users who are installing on their desktop computers.
System requirements

Installing for Windows
- To run multiple versions and upgrade from a previous release
- Uninstall the old version of IBM SPSS Statistics before you install the new version. Multiple versions can be installed and run on the same computer. However, do not install the new version in the same directory in which the previous version is installed.
- Installing from a downloaded file
- You must run the installer as administrator:
- Double-click the file that you downloaded and extract all the files to some location on your computer.
- Use Windows Explorer to browse to the location where you extracted the files.
- Right-click SPSSStatistics.exe and choose Run as Administrator.
- Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
- Installing from the DVD/CD
- You must run the AutoPlay as administrator:
- Close the AutoPlay window that appears automatically, when you insert the DVD/CD into your DVD/CD drive.
- Use the Windows Explorer, browse to the DVD/CD drive.
- Right-click SPSSStatistics.exe in the Windows subfolder and choose Run as Administrator.
- On the AutoPlay menu, click the item that you want to install, and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
Installing for macOS
- Running multiple versions and upgrading from a previous release
- You need not uninstall the older version of IBM SPSS Statistics before you install the new version. Multiple versions can be installed and run on the same computer. However, do not install the new version in the same directory in which a previous version is installed.
- Installing from a downloaded file

- Mount the installer disk image by double-clicking the file that you downloaded.
- In the mounted disk image, double-click the installer file, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
- Installing from the DVD/CD

- Insert the DVD/CD into your DVD/CD drive.
- Browse to the DVD/CD drive.
- Double-click SPSS Statistics Installer, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
Licensing your product
After the product is installed, you are presented with options for activating the product with your IBMid (Login with IBMid) or with an authorization code through the License Authorization Wizard (Launch License Wizard). You must select the Launch License Wizard option to license the product properly. The Login with IBMid option is for the subscription version of the product, which is activated differently when compared to other licensed versions. - Using the license authorization wizard

Note: You might be prompted for administrator credentials. Without the correct credentials, you cannot run the License Authorization Wizard.
- . The License Authorization Wizard starts immediately after you install the product. If you need to run the wizard after product installation, click IBM SPSS Statistics product menus. from the
- Select Concurrent user license. When prompted, enter the license manager
server name or IP address. The network license manager is runs on this IP address or server. If you
have multiple addresses or names, separate them with a tilde (for example,
server1~server2~server3
). Contact your administrator if you do not have this information.Note: Depending on your environment, you need to verify whether TCP port 7 is open. The License Authorization Wizard must contact the license manager server one time on port 7 to verify whether it is available.
Checking out/in a commuter license
Normally, you must connect to the network to run the network licenses IBM SPSS Statistics. If your administrator enables the commuter licenses, check out a commuter license to use the network license when you are not connected to the network. For example, you might want to run IBM SPSS Statistics on the train when you don't have a network connection. Before you disconnect from your network and catching the train, you might check out a commuter license for a limited amount of time. You must reconnect to the network and check the license back in before the time expires otherwise, IBM SPSS Statistics stops working.
Network licenses are enabled and configured by your administrator. If you would like to use this feature and can't, check with your administrator.
Though you are able to run IBM SPSS Statistics because you are reconnected to the network, be sure to check the license back in. Doing so allows other users to take advantage of the commuter license.
- Check out a license

- Windows only: Choose Commuter License in the Windows Start menu program group for IBM SPSS Statistics.
- macOS only: Double-click Commuter Utility in the installation directory.
- Select the license that you want to check out.
- In the Duration box, enter the number of days for which you want to check out the license. A limit is set up to which your administrator configures.
- Click Check Out.
The commuter license expires after the number of days specified by Duration. You can manually check the license back in at any time.
You might receive a message in the following format:

Common codes are as follows.
Code Meaning 77 All available licenses are checked out. 1402 Attempt to check out license that is reserved for another user. - Check in a license

- Windows only: Choose Commuter License in the Windows Start menu program group for IBM SPSS Statistics.
- macOS only: Double-click Commuter Utility in the installation directory.
- Select the license that you want to check in. License(s) that you checked out are indicated by a checkmark.
- Click Check In.
Applying fix packs
To ensure problem-free operation, keep your product at the latest fix pack level. Complete the necessary pre-installation and postinstallation tasks as described in the fix pack instructions.
Uninstalling for Windows
To completely uninstall IBM SPSS Statistics:
- Use the Windows Control Panel to remove IBM SPSS Statistics.
- Delete the following folder: C:\ProgramData\IBM\SPSS Statistics\<version>
Uninstalling for macOS
- Drag the installation folder to the Trash bin. By default, it is stored in /Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics.
- In your Home folder, browse to Library/Preferences.
- Drag com.ibm.spss.plist to the Trash. Note that this file is used by IBM SPSS Statistics, IBM SPSS Statistics Student Version, and IBM SPSS Smartreader. If any of these applications are still installed, do not remove this file.
- In your Home folder, drag Library/Application Support/IBM/SPSS Statistics/30/Eclipse/ to the Trash.
- If required, remove any custom dialogs that you installed by dragging them to the Trash from <install directory>/Resources/Extensions/CustomDialogs.
- If required, remove any extension commands that you installed by dragging them to the Trash from <install directory>/Resources/Extensions/extensions.
- Empty the Trash bin.
